Welcome to the INPRONIC CAN Bus & Vehicle Networks Forum!
Whether you're an automotive engineer, electronics hobbyist, fleet technician, or student — this is your place to ask questions, share projects, and go deep on vehicle communication protocols.
🔌 What is CAN Bus? (And why does it matter?)
CAN Bus (Controller Area Network) is the backbone of modern vehicles. Invented by Bosch in 1986, today it connects every ECU in your car — from the engine control module to ABS, airbags, instrument cluster, and more — all talking on just 2 wires.
Without CAN Bus, a modern vehicle simply wouldn't work.
📡 What protocols will we discuss here?
| Protocol | Used For |
|---|---|
| CAN 2.0A / 2.0B | Base automotive networking |
| OBD-II | Diagnostics, fault codes (DTCs), live data |
| J1939 | Heavy-duty trucks, buses, agriculture |
| CANopen | Industrial automation, robotics |
| LIN Bus | Low-speed: windows, mirrors, sensors |
| ISO-TP (15765) | Multi-frame messaging, UDS flashing |
| UDS (ISO 14229) | ECU programming, security access |
🛠️ What can you do in this forum?
✅ Ask beginner questions — no question is too basic ✅ Share your CAN Bus captures and logs ✅ Discuss J1939 PGN/SPN decoding ✅ Help others reverse-engineer proprietary messages ✅ Share projects using Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32 + CAN ✅ Discuss real-world diagnostics with OBD-II tools
