New Hardware Available: LIN Bus Daughter Board — Now Ready to Ship

  • We are pleased to announce that the LIN Bus Daughter Board is now available and ready to ship.

This expansion board integrates directly with the CAN-BUS Multiplex Trainer, extending your network analysis capabilities to include the Local Interconnect Network protocol — the same protocol used in virtually every modern vehicle to control seats, windows, mirrors, climate systems, interior lighting, and a wide range of body electronics.

Why LIN Bus matters in real diagnostics

LIN operates as a sub-network beneath the CAN bus. It is a single-wire, master-slave protocol running typically at 19.2 kbps, designed for non-critical but widespread vehicle functions. In practice, a significant portion of body-related faults and intermittent issues originate in LIN clusters — yet most diagnostic tools treat LIN as a secondary concern and provide little visibility into the actual frame-level communication.

With this daughter board, you can now capture and observe LIN frames directly, identify which slave node is not responding to a master schedule, and compare commanded versus actual behavior at the message level — not just through interpreted scan tool output.

What you can do with it

    • Monitor live LIN bus traffic alongside CAN data in the same session
    • Observe the master-slave scheduling mechanism and frame structure in real time
    • Identify non-responsive slave nodes and timing anomalies
    • Analyze body control functions — seat adjustment, window regulators, lighting control — at the protocol level
    • Expand your diagnostic coverage to include the full vehicle network architecture
